Stuffing is often included in menus with poultry. With these easy-to-make stuffing balls, you can enjoy the popular flavors with other meats and fish any time of the year. Shape the balls ahead for baking just before serving. This same idea adapts well to your favorite homemade stuffing.

Savory Stuffing Balls

6 tablespoons butter
1/2 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup chopped celery
1 pkg. (6 oz.) chicken or turkey stuffing mix
1 cup canned chicken broth
1 egg
1-1/2 cups water
1 cup crumbled bread or rolls

1. Combine butter, onion and celery in microwave-safe mixing bowl.

2. MICROWAVE (100%) 3 to 4 minutes or until vegetables are tender. Set aside. Preheat microwave-convection oven to 375 degrees.

3. Add stuffing mix to vegetables; mix lightly. Combine 1/2 cup chicken broth with the egg; beat well with fork. Add to stuffing mixture along with water and crumbled bread. Mix until just moistened. With wet hands shape rounded spoonful of mixture into 2-inch balls. Place in 8 or 9-inch square silicone baking pan. Drizzle remaining 1/2 cup chicken broth over balls.

4. Convection-Bake on low rack at 375 degrees for 18 to 20 minutes or until golden brown.

Tips

>Add other favorites to stuffing: cooked, crumbled sausage, chopped apple or dried cranberries.
>Be sure to lightly grease the pan when not using silicone.
>Store leftover bread and rolls in freezer; use for the crumbled bread in recipes like this one.
