
Apple-Pie Cake
Enjoy the flavors of apple pie in this easy to prepare and bake cake. Prepare in square pan for serving in squares or in a round for wedges. A great way to use end-of-season apples. Finish with the tasty caramel sauce and a dollop of whipped cream.
3 cups chopped, peeled apple
1/4 cup cooking oil
3/4 cup sugar (brown or white)
1 egg
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
​Caramel Sauce:
1/3 cup sugar
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1/3 cup whipping cream
1 tablespoon butter
1/2 teaspoon vanilla​
1. Preheat microwave-convection oven to 375 degrees.
2. Peel and chop apples; set aside. Mix together oil, sugar and egg; stir in vanilla and apples. Add flour, baking soda, salt cinnamon and nuts; stir until combined. Spread mixture in 8 or 9-inch round or square silicone baking dish.
3. COMBO-BAKE on low rack with 10 to 20% microwave and 375 degrees for 20 to 23 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes our clean. Cool.
4. Prepare Sauce by combining all ingredients except vanilla in 2-cup microwave-safe container. Stir well. MICROWAVE (100%), uncovered, 1 to 2 minutes or until mixture boils, stirring once. Stir in vanilla.
Serve servings of cake with warm sauce. Refrigerate any leftover cake and sauce.

TIPS > When using glass baking dish, be sure to oil dish before adding batter.
> With 30% combination settings, reduce time to 15 to 17 minutes; then Bake 5 to 8 minutes or until it tests done.
> Use any leftover sauce on ice cream or other cakes and desserts.
> Top dessert with a dollop of whipped cream or scoop of ice cream.
> Cake freezes well.
