Oven Information
The Microwave-Convection Oven is usually 3 ovens in one...it will microwave, it will bake with convection heat (fan+heating element) and it will combine convection & microwave cooking. The convection and microwave modes are similar across oven brands. The combination mode varies with oven brand and model. Some ovens have only one microwave combination and this is usually 30% microwave power. Others have 2 or more combinations...usually at least 10% and 30% power. Some ovens have only one combination temperature; others allow you to set the temperature of choice.
With microwave and convection, use the same cooking tools you normally use for microwave and convection methods. With combination, it is best to use material that is friendly to both microwave and convection heat. Silicone is great for combination cooking and great for traveling, too, since it is light-weight, non-stick and works well with microwave and convection heat.
Ovens usually have options for cooking using the programed food types that are stored in the oven memory. Most can also be set manually to make your own favorite recipes.
